West Grand National Race & Banquet
FAQ's

1.  Why was the awards banquet placed on the weekend of the race?  There were several reasons.  First, with our extended season, we wouldn't have had the gold rings ready until December, which would have pushed our awards banquet into January of next year.  Second, with the economy still tough, it would be hard for folks to make a special trip just for the banquet - this way, everyone will already be in place for the race.  In fact, this was how we used to do our banquet every year, but this will be the first time the banquet will be held in the official hotel so it will be super convenient.

2.  Do I have to attend both the race and the banquet?  No, some folks will want to race, and then head home and that is okay.  The banquet is fist thing in the morning however, and you'll not find a better breakfast on the road so staying for the banquet won't delay you very long at all.  On the other hand, you do not need to be racing in the Grand National event to come join us for the banquet.  Just send in the entry form/ticket order form filled out for both, or only one of the events.

3.  Why is the awards banquet being held out west?  For the last several years the banquet has been held in the Eastern US which makes it difficult for our western racers to attend.  Since we have the West Grand National race in place at the end of the points season, this is the perfect year to move the banquet west.

4.  What awards will be passed out?  Clearly we will not have our gold rings or Hoosier jackets to pass out because the points will have just been decided the night before.  We will have awards from the race, and points plaques for our Future Stars to pass out.  In the end however, the banquet is about recognition and the best time for that is right after the championship is decided so not having some of the most prestigious awards is a small price to pay for being able to recognize our racers in front of their peers right after the battles are decided.

5.  How will racers get their rings/jackets?  As soon as they are sent from the manufacturers, MMRA will get them shipped out.  If there is an instance where a local banquet will be held after our awards are ready, we'll coordinate with local leaders to have the MMRA awards presented at the local banquet.
