| The fourth Touring Series race of
2006 at Beech Bend Raceway Park was a great success. It was a hot day,
but with a break between qualifying and racing, many of our Future Stars
checked out the great amusement park and water park at Beech Bend. Beech
Bend used their transponder system for a unique European Style qualifying
session. Groups of 6 cars in each division would take to the track for
4 minutes to try to record a fast lap. After everyone in the division
had had their run, the fastest lap for each driver would be their qualifying
time. Here are the fast laps by division:
Future Stars - Logan Ruffin - 19.245 seconds
Open Division - Ronnie Binkley - 18.717 seconds
Junior PRO - Jacob France - 17.671 seconds
PRO Division - Lindsay Daniels - 16.927 seconds

When racetime came around, it was Logan Ruffin (pictured above) who
earned a victory in the Future Stars of Racing while Ronnie Binkley was the
class of the field in the Open Division. Jacob France continued his
winning ways in the Junior PRO division, and Mark Rouse continued his clean
sweep of the 2006 Touring Series PRO Division features.
After the race, MMRA tech officials checked for vacuum leaks, checked
carburetors, and checked shocks on minicups . In Baby Grands,
carburetors were also checked in addition to the standard weight and ride
heights. All cars were in specs.
Most racers really enjoyed the challenging layout and the best suggestion
we heard was to work out a deal on the amusement park tickets next year.
We will definitely work on that!
Thanks to each and every racer who attended this Touring Series event.
