2006 MMRA Points System
Changes
The MMRA Competition Committee has voted to make several changes to the
2006 MMRA Oval Track points system. Here is a bullet point list of the
main changes:
* All races reported to MMRA on the
MMRA Schedule
form will be posted on the MMRA website.
* All races posted on the MMRA website will count toward the 2006
championship.
* Only MMRA members will be listed in finishing orders and only
members count toward the car count factor.
* Local races with 20 or more cars will get the same bonus point for
all positions as Touring Series events.
* At Touring Series events that rain out, all racers signed in for the
event will receive first place points.
* MMRA will take your best 9 scores from local/Touring Series events
plus the Grand National race for your final points count for the
championship. (A total of 10 events)
While the basic points system remains consistent, these changes are
designed to do several things. First, we want to encourage folks to
race often by giving them the opportunity to improve their position in the
standings. Second, in local areas with high car counts, we want to
recognize their success by providing the bonus point for high car count
races. Third, by only counting MMRA members, we remove the motivation
to put non-racers in cars just to get 10 cars on the track for car count
factor purposes. Finally, by counting 10 races, instead of 5, we are
rewarding racers who put together a whole season of performance.
