Memorial Day weekend is a big weekend for racing and MMRA scheduled our
third Touring Series race at the beautiful Mansfield Speedway in Ohio.
Unfortunately, on race day, mother nature intervened with regular
rainshowers throughout the afternoon. Although the big 1/2 mile oval
dries fairly quickly, the inside 1/4 mile used by our minicups takes hours
to dry, so the track made the decision early in the afternoon to call the
race.
MMRA would like to thank all our racers who made the long tow to
Ohio from Missouri, Oklahoma, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
You came even though the forecast was iffy, and helped us make a good
impression on a track we hope to visit again in the future. The rainout
policy for MMRA is spelled out in the "Policies and Procedures" section of
the MMRA rulebook and will be put into action for this event. As such,
all racers entered in the event will receive one bonus point added to the
highest point score they have earned to date. To make this easy to
see, we will underline that score from this day forward in our points
standings. Also, each racer will receive their entry fee back minus
$20 for tech travel expenses. The next Touring Series event won't be until
July when these spring rains should finally be over. July 9 we will be
at JRP Speedway in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then July 30 we're at Sportsdrome
Speedway in Indiana. These races will be two more chances to get high
point scores before the East Grand National race on August 26-27 at
Friendship Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
