HELP WANTED
The 2006 MMRA racing season will see significant growth and will require
an upgraded infrastructure to ensure effective operations. In other
words - we need some help! There are several staff positions we will need to
fill, particularly at our Touring and Grand National events. If you
have ever wanted to be more involved in auto racing, this is a great place
to start. Many positions do not require specialized experience, only a
willingness to learn and a friendly attitude toward our racers, sponsors,
and fans. If you are coming to our events with a racer, but feel bored
sitting in a trailer, perhaps you could join our team. Perhaps you are
not involved now but would like to get out of the stands and into the action
- see if any of the jobs below sound like a good fit for you.
|
|
Job |
Description |
| 1. Pit Boss |
You will assist our racers primarily during practice times.
As racers line up to go out on the track, the pit boss sends out the correct
number of cars and ensures that cars from different divisions do not mix.
When cars come off the track, the pit boss helps to direct them back to the
pit area.
|
| 2. Sign-In Person |
This is a job for a "People Person". All racers must
sign in for every event whether they have pre-registered or not. The
staff at sign in will ensure all insurance and entry forms are filled out
accurately and completely. Also, at some events, you will need to
distribute stickers, hats, or other items to each driver in the field.
|
| 3. Tech Area Help |
We need additional help both in pre and post race tech.
Although experience may help, it is not necessary. Easy yet important
tasks here are reading the official scales, directing cars, checking seat
belt dates, checking for MMRA plates and/or serial numbers, checking ride
height, width, etc. We would like to have several tech personnel to
ensure that large numbers of cars can be processed quickly.
|
| 4. Sponsor Hosts |
In 2006, MMRA expects to have sponsor
representatives at our Touring and Grand National events. In most
cases, these people will not know anything about racetracks or racing and
they will need someone to answer questions and make them feel more
comfortable. Although this is one of the most important jobs, it has
very little to do with racing. If you have experience in PR,
hospitality, etc. this would be a great way for you to help the sport grow.
|
| 5. Pit Communicator |
Many times we need to communicate a message to all the
racers in the pits and the public address system is not available or
effective. You can help ensure the day runs smoothly by traveling
through the pits to announce events such as the drivers meeting, photo
shoot, practice, qualifying, and most of all - the feature races. This
job is one that could be performed "part time". For example, if you
can't devote the whole day to MMRA staff work, but you have plenty of free
time, this job would consist of several "5 minute efforts" throughout the
day.
|
| 6. Photographer |
Do you have a digital camera and take lots of great
pictures? MMRA would like to have several people who will assist us in
documenting our Touring and Grand National races. You'll get to see
your work displayed here on
www.mmraracing.com and also enjoy the satisfaction of doing your part to
build our sport.
|
| 7. Videographer |
Similar to the above job, we need more folks who will be
shooting mini DV format video of our Touring and Grand National events.
After each event, we will simply borrow your tape to upload the content into
our editing computer and then the tape will be sent back to you.
|
| 8. Victory Lane Coordinator |
Remember Bill Broderick who was known as "The Hat Guy" in
Winston Cup? We need someone who can bring the trophies, banners, etc.
to victory lane after each Touring and Grand National event. This way
the winner can pose with the "right stuff" for the victory lane photos.
Can you help us out here?
|
| 9. More? |
Can you think of a job that needs to be done at MMRA events
that isn't being taken care of? Please let us know and we will add it
to this list. Thank you! |
