Washington State is beautiful in August - usually. Unfortunately, on
August 21, it rained. On hand at South Sound Speedway were 14 Future
Stars, 13 Open Division, and 18 PRO Division racers ready to do battle.
The practice sessions on both Friday and Saturday only encouraged the racers
in attendance that the event would be a great one. South Sound
Speedway is an excellent facility for MMRA racing and it would have been an
event to remember.
As it turned out, MMRA had to implement our rain policy for
Grand National races as outlined in the 2004 MMRA rulebook. All racers
in attendance at the event received first place points. As such, the
points leaders coming into the event maintained their lead and were crowned
the champions at the awards banquet on Sunday morning. As you can see
by the photo below, it was young guns who won all 2004 Western Championships
- and the Future Star is the biggest of the 3.

Congratulations and thank you to all our 2004 Western region
racers. It is always a pleasure to meet new racers and this year was
no different. You canadians were especially mischevious and funny eh?
Good luck over the winter and we'll look forward to seeing you next season.
