I’m
excited to announce an important new addition to the MMRA team. Vic Johnson
has come aboard as our Tech Director and he will oversee the tech inspection
process for all our touring and Grand National races in 2003.
Vic has many years of
experience in racing, and strong moral character. He also loves the sport of
minicup racing and has agreed to take on this responsibility simply to help
the sport grow. I’ve known Vic for years and he is well qualified to
perform this important job. He is patient and understanding of the needs
and concerns of the average racer while remaining firmly committed to
maintaining an even playing field for all competitors.
Vic will have full authority
over the tech inspection process. No other MMRA staff member will have any
input into the process unless Vic asks for it. All decisions regarding the
legality of cars and or parts will be made by Vic alone, and his decisions
will be final.
My recommendation is for all
racers to treat Vic with respect. He is volunteering his efforts on your
behalf and remember - he will be in charge of tech at all the races. If you
should ever have a disagreement with Vic, you’ll find he is willing to
listen to all logical, levelheaded arguments.
Vic is a great guy
to work with and many of you will look forward to seeing him at each event.
Please help me welcome him aboard and let him know you appreciate his work
to make the sport better for all of us.
Vic has written an
introduction letter that describes his plans for tech inspections at each
event. Please go ahead and read it so you'll know what to expect and
how to make our events go as smoothly as possible.
Thank you,
Pete Neimeier
