MMRA's first trip to Lake Erie Speedway was a great success.
All the rumors about Lake Erie were true - it is indeed the finest facility
we have ever seen. No expense was spared to build this state of the
art racetrack. Everything we needed to host a first class event was
readily available, including an enclosed, lighted tech building that even
had closed circuit television. The track officials and staff were a
delight to work with and treated us as honored guests.
MMRA also received great coverage in the local media - radio
ads ran the week prior to the event promoting MMRA's championship race.
During the weekend, there were at least 3 newspaper articles published and
even the local TV stations showed clips of the great racing action.
The weather in Erie was beautiful, until racetime, when a
light shower passed. Radar showed heavy storms in the area, so our
program was accelerated as much as possible. As such, we do not have
the traditional victory lane photos, interviews, etc.
MMRA would like to thank all the racers who made the trip to
Erie and we hope you have great family memories of the event. The
2003 Year in Review video will include footage from
Erie and we hope it brings back fond memories of the Eastern Grand National
race weekend.
